February 10: St. Haralambos and a unique Bulgarian custom. On February 10, the church honors St. Haralambos, who is considered by many to be the patron saint of honey and beekeepers, as well as a savior from diseases. To this day, on February 10, candles are lit on hundreds of jars of honey in the temple Presentation of the Virgin Mary in Blagoevgrad, forming the shape of a cross. The belief says that the fiery copper cross brings health and good harvest to beekeepers.
